Ode To The Classical Guitar
accelerando—
a tango of green, yellow, mocha eyes
sunflower notes riot
courier of fecundity, you awaken in me longings
a desire for my homeland
your sweet residue—
alkali, loam
tremolo—
caligraphy drifts out, a script of bird eggs—
the specks, the streaks, the hushed blues
breezes skim spokes of a windmill, engraving
mandalas
on the air
tufted clover nestles my body with cream
rasgueado—
doves, mantillaed in grey
flick a velvet
fandango
the Mexican blue joy, a seguidilla
pizzicato—
locust pods rattle, cattails burst
cilantro explodes in my mouth
willows grip a creek, an emerald
maze of impassioned stems
sheep thread sierra valleys
lady of the resilient spruce, you enspirit me
with a gritty
adagio from the heartland
cradle me in canciones
songs of salt
