Kenneth Alewine

Rorschach on a Print
from John Cage
Edge of a saltine
leaves trail lines in peanut
butter, the furrowed eggplant
brush stroke on grocery-sack
brown paper.
Rain falls on the rooftop,
there in the dark purple daubs
mushrooms growing violet
grey in garden streaks.
A creaking piano bench
postmarked like a stamp,
chamber winds blowing
outside, there in vague lilac
smudges.
Yarrow sticks emerge
from the print, antennas
tuning in radio static
coughing in the audience
water applauding a stone.
